Maidenhead Rotaract Club Scoops National Awards

The Rotaract Club of Maidenhead stole the show at the recent Rotaract in Great Britain & Ireland (RGBI) Conference, held in Cardiff over the Spring Bank Holiday.

Not only did they win the best club newsletter award and the best innovation award for their publicity campaign, they were also awarded the highest accolade for a club…the Rotaract in Great Britain & Ireland Club of the Year Award.

It is the first time Maidenhead Rotaract has won this award in its 29 years of existence and all members are very proud. Keith Pickles, RGBI Chairman, presented the award to Maidenhead Rotaract Club President, Lisa Burnett, during the awards ceremony.

Mr Pickles commented “Maidenhead Rotaract highly deserve this award for all their hard work over the last year, not only in increasing their membership by over 400% but also for the humanitarian work they have undertaken and the end to suffering they have brought to many lives in their local community and around the world. I could not think of a more worthy winner”.

Maidenhead Rotaract have recently organised CV & Interview Seminars to help local residents get back to work, taken part in a sponsored 24 hour technology famine going without all mod-cons for a whole day in aid of the Polio Challenge, been Sno-Tubing, organised collections for local charities, organised a world culture party, had trips to the cinema, pubs and meals out, and had speakers from local charities including: Alexander Devine Children’s Cancer Care Trust, REACT and The Samaritans. You name it and Maidenhead Rotaract have either done it, are doing it or are organising to do it again!

Rotaract is a fun and dynamic organisation that provides an opportunity for men and women aged 18 30 to have fun, meet new friends, get involved with the community and raise invaluable funds for various charities.
