Horsey Hoppers Gallop to Fundraising Success

On Tuesday 21st October Maidenhead Rotaract threw open their doors to some horsey hoppers to raise money for the Alexander Devine Children’s Cancer Care Trust.

Their Horsey Hopper Race Night was a race night with a difference as they did not watch the standard race DVDs but used real-life jockeys riding on space hoppers covered with horse covers!

With 42 people attending, the event was a huge success and great fun too. The brilliant news is that they raised a whopping £258.50 for the clubs chosen charity of the year.

The Alexander Devine Children’s Cancer Care Trust was set up in memory of a little boy called Alexander. Alexander was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour in November 2001 at the tender age of just four years and after a long battle against his illness he sadly passed away. In honour of his outstanding courage and strength his parents have formed this trust. The long term is to build and fund a Children’s Hospice service in the Berkshire area.

Lisa Burnett, President Maidenhead Rotaract, said “It was a great night and fantastic to see everyone having such a good time. How many other people can say that they bounced their way to success on a Tuesday evening?”

She continued “It’s just great to know that the effort we’ve put in is going to make such a difference to so many people.”

The club have created a video of the event which can be seen below:
